Capital Softwood
A trio of limited liability sister companies with Tim Dobby a common sole or joint shareholder and a shared product range and modus operandi that runs seamlessly from a centralised operational platform.
The trio are Capital Softwood Ltd, Capital Softwood (Northern) Ltd and Capital Softwood (Southern) Ltd.
Which company you deal with will be according to the sales connection you wish to have and the terms of engagement you prefer to see when buying or supplying softwood through us.
We share a common VAT number but account for each business separately as required under Companies House regs for limited liability SME businesses.
Mission statement
To sell sustainable softwood in such a manner that our customers feel secure they have been offered the right product at a fair market price and at the same time provide our sawmilling partners in the Nordic region with a secure platform that works to protect them and their long-term interests in the UK market.
There has been much volatility in softwood markets in recent years and the above is not always an easy target but we will try our utmost to find that middle ground in such times.

Hedley Harrison & Tim Dobby founded Capital Softwood (Northern) Ltd; Tim also founded Capital Softwood (Southern) Ltd at that time
Helen Hawke joined us as Ops Manager

2013
Capital Hardwood & Components Ltd was founded by Tim Dobby, Darren Weightman and David Bennett
2019
Tim Dobby sold his shares in Capital Hardwood & Components Ltd to his co-founders Darren Weightman and David Bennett. That business continues today under the sole ownership of Darren and David
2023
Jim Severn began with doing some work with us and in the beginning of 2025 became a sole co-agent for Capital Softwood
